Sofia Sugumar
Associate
Sofia Sugumar is an associate in the Litigation department at the firm.
Prior to joining Sotos, Sofia practiced as a corporate transactional lawyer at another prominent Canadian law firm, where she gained extensive experience drafting and negotiating contracts. Before law school, Sofia worked with the Canadian operations of a global franchise system. These combined experiences give her a unique advantage in understanding both the operational side of franchise disputes and the commercial realities behind contracts, which she applies to effectively resolve complex franchise matters.
Sofia earned her J.D. at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she was an active participant in the school’s mooting program. She competed in and later coached the Adam F. Fanaki Competition Moot, and served as a bench clerk for the annual showcase Grand Moot. In her final year, Sofia was a member of the Moot Court Committee, contributing to the operation of the university’s mooting program.
