Jeanine Alphonse
Law Clerk
Jeanine is a litigation law clerk and is part of the Class Action and Litigation team.
She helps move cases forward from the very beginning through to discoveries, mediations, motions, trials and appeals. She assists with the preparation of court documents, e-Discovery, and communicates with clients and class members.
Jeanine has been involved in a wide range of class actions since the start of her legal career. Most notably, she has played a key role in cases focused on consumer rights, data privacy breaches, and Aboriginal Law. She brings a solid background in civil litigation at all levels of Court and across various jurisdictions in Canada, including the Federal Court.
Jeanine is tech-savvy which enables her to effectively handle large-scale complex cases. She is confident with legal software and quickly adapts to new technologies, allowing her to tackle litigation tasks with ease and efficiency.
Before joining Sotos, Jeanine worked at another leading class action firm in Toronto where she developed her foundational knowledge in the Rules of Civil Procedure, civil practice directions, and the procedural aspects behind class actions.
Jeanine earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Business Law at Carleton University and earned her Law Clerk Diploma from Humber College.
Outside the office, soccer and travel are my twin passions—chasing goals on the field and new experiences around the world. Off the pitch, you will usually find me planning my next trip or unwinding with a good TV show.
