Canadian auto dealers launch class action over alleged price-fixing by auto parts manufacturers

Three class action lawsuits have been launched in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice seeking over $700 million in damages on behalf of Canadian auto dealers over alleged price fixing on parts used in the manufacture of automobiles.

Jean-Marc Leclerc was recently quoted by Law360 discussing the recent British Columbia Court of Appeal cases Pro-Sys Consultants Ltd. v. Microsoft Corporation and Sun-Rype Products Ltd. v. Archer Daniels Midland Company. Leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was recently granted  for both cases.

Sotos LLP partner Allan Dick was recently quoted in Lexpert magazine discussing the recent franchising class action case of Fairview Donut Inc. v. The TDL Group Corp. In the case, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice dismissed a class action brought by Tim Hortons franchisees, who alleged that the franchisor had illegally forced them to purchase expensive donuts and lunch food.
